Our goal as music ministers at Queen of Peace is to enhance the beauty of our Catholic Mass while nourishing the faith of our parishioners. “To serve as a music minister in the Catholic Church is a privilege as well as a serious responsibility. It is a privilege because the gift of music is not given to everyone, and it is a responsibility because musical leadership must foster the ‘full, conscious and active participation’ of the assembly” (Music in Catholic Worship by Bishops Committee on Music in the Liturgy).

The Companions Ensemble is a small ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists. The group has one rehearsal prior to singing once a month at the 8:30am Mass and for other special services. Vocalists and instrumentalists are welcome to audition and will need
to have advanced musicianship skills necessary to learn music independently. If you have these skills and would like to audition, please contact Molly Christensen, Music Coordinator.
The Cantor is both a soloist and a leader of congregational song. Vocalists are welcome to audition and will need to have either prior experience as a cantor or have advanced musicianship skills necessary to learn music independently and lead the assembly. I encourage vocalists with these gifts to share them with our parish.
The Primary role of the organist, other instrumentalists, or instrumental ensemble is to lead and sustain the singing of the assembly and of the choir or cantor. There are times when the organ or other instruments may be played alone.
The organist or instrumentalist will need advanced musicianship skills necessary to learn music independently. I encourage anyone with these gifts and who would like to become involved as an organist or instrumentalist to please contact Molly Christensen, Music Coordinator.
